Project 4: Montage

JeanetteLarsen-P4-MontageDescription: My assignment was to create a montage using at least two images. I also had to use filters and make sure to blend the images together and not create a collage. The message had to be one of a spiritual nature.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): I started designing this montage with the concept of ‘light’ as my focus. I searched through images I had and considered several combinations that could work together. I edited the images and brought them both into an Adobe Photoshop file. For each layer I created layer masks and then decided how transparent and what sections to combine together.

I used a photo filter on a portion of the design to add warm tones. And then I also used a render filter with a lens flare effect to add to to the sunniness and light coming in. I used my typography selections to work with a biblical scripture reference that I was going to include.

Message: I decided to design this piece with ‘light’ as the concept. I searched for several scriptural references and then decided one to go with. The message is that you can find light through Jesus Christ if you search for it.

Audience: The audience would be a little older, someone who can read and understands religious concepts. I think though it is for anyone that wants more light and peace in their life.

Top Thing Learned: This project taught me a lot of patience. I spent numerous hours and changed my design completely three times. I learned that what I wanted and thought I was communicating is not always interpreted the same by the viewer.

Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I used a warming photo filter and a render filter with lens flare.

Color scheme and color names: Analagous color scheme / Green, Teal, and Blue.
